My Eva is something else. Sometimes she just absolutely amazes me with her wit and her insight. The other night we were cleaning out toys from her room and Ryan had told her that every toy she wanted to keep needed to have a specific spot. Eva was doing a great job about agreeing that some toys needed to move out of our house. Then she came across something that she really wanted to keep and she claimed it. So Ryan asked, "Ok, you can keep it, but where is it going to stay?" And without missing a beat she said, "On the floor!" and then burst out laughing. It was so funny. She is frequently making us laugh with her quick wit.
I'm also amazed by her insight, also. Last night we were watching a show on television. After a particular car commercial came on, she said with a wrinkled nose, "That car commercial makes it seem like people are going to die if they don't buy that car." What a great teachable moment we had because she could recognize a bunch of bologna when she sees/hears it! Ryan and I were telling her that she always felt that way about material things.
We are constantly laughing at the motherly comments she makes when girls are dressed inappropriately. She says things like, "That is way too short!" or "She is showing way too much girl skin. And boys get kinda crazy when they see too much girl skin." Hilarious I tell you! I hope she feels the same way about clothing during her teen years. Her comments during the Super Bowl after seeing just a part of how Beyonce was dressed and dancing had Ryan and me in stitches. She could not understand why that girl would be up on stage in front of all of those people wearing her underwear! Nor did she find the dancing very suitable to her taste. It was literally like listening to grandma fussing about "kids these days".
She may only be 6, but she acts much more like a middle-aged woman. Man I do love that girl! So thankful that she is the one who got my feet wet with this whole parenting thing.
