Some new favorite things

I have some new favorite things that I'd like to share with you.  I'm hoping that some of them come to me in a minute, because right now I only remember 2 of them.  :)

Numero uno:  (the spanish lesson is just a bonus)  Sesame oil.  Not the kind you cook with, but the kind you buy in the health and beauty department.  You just rub it into your skin right after your shower, while your skin is still damp.  I kid you not, my skin has never been softer.  I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it!

Numero dos: Baking soda.  Ha!  Seriously though, do you know how many things you can do with baking soda?!?  After moving into this house, we began to notice the unmistakable smell of doggy teetee.  It's not completely overwhelming, but there are about 3 spots in our house that we have notice the stank.  (I totally expected to get the red line of death under "stank" but didn't.  Is that a real word?  I was just using my Louisiana phonetics.)  Long story short, I got online and found a recipe for homemade carpet freshener.  I'll share it with you now:
1/2 cup of baking soda
1/2 cup of cornstarch
15 drops of an essential oil (I used lavender because I already had it on hand)
Shake, shake, shake.  Then sprinkle on your carpet.  Leave it either overnight or all day while at work, then vacuum it up.  It's quite pleasant without making your nose tickle from too many artificial scents and chemicals.

Numero tres:  The website www.productiveparenting.com  is great.  You just go to the site, enter your email address and the age of your kiddos and it will send you age-appropriate activities to do with them.  Or you can just peruse the website and find things to do with them that go along with what you're already teaching them.

I really do think there were more things, but that's all my brain can think of right now.  My brain may not be functioning at 100% today because a certain child of mine woke me up 5 times last night.  I don't understand.  She has just never consistently slept through the night for more than a few months at a time.  And the times she does sleep through the night, she wakes up before the sun.  One night last week she woke up 7 times in one night.  That's more than a newborn!  I'm not sure how I'm gonna handle her waking up and the new little guy waking up.  It'll be an interesting summer.

That reminds me of another favorite thing: nap time!

P.S. No, little dude doesn't have a name yet. We've joked about just naming him Dude, but I don't think he'd appreciate that. :)

I liked the Spanish refresher. :) I just read the other day about how cornstarch will take spills up from the carpet and olive oil can be used as furniture polish, among other helpful tips. We aren't telling people Mr. Baby's name and when people at church asked after we announced this one is a boy he told them from the pulpit "we are naming him Sue." So, you guys can have Dude and we'll have Sue. :)
