Yesterday I actually started to unpack boxes. More than half of our possessions have been in a storage unit for the last 6 months. Back in September I bid a tearful goodbye to all of the kitchen gadgets that make cooking fun and make life easier. I know none of them are needs... we really did bring only the needed essentials to our apartment. Literally we had only about 6 forks and spoons to use in our apartment... which equals a lot of washing of the dishes. As I unpacked each box yesterday, I kept squealing and saying things like "Yea!" and "Woohoo!". This brought great joy to the husband who kept asking, "What did you find this time?"
"Umm... only a full set of silverware!"
It was a really fun afternoon. I barely noticed that my back was killing me until around dinner time when I sat down. And then declared that my day of unpacking was officially finished. Apparently the 15 lb. bowling ball that I'm carrying around is adding some stress to my back. So even though I was squatting to pick things up, I still had to bend at the waist to get things out of boxes.
It was also pretty fun to see the little baby toys and baby crib out in the garage. It made me excited! As soon as we get some of the other stuff settled, I plan on setting that baby bed up... just so I can look at it!
It feels like Christmas in another way, too. It's still crazy cold here. Today's high is a whopping 35 degrees and we had some snow last night. Kansas City obviously did not get my letter last week. Spring, where are you???
I really promise to update some pictures from my trip to Louisiana as soon as I find my camera and the appropriate cord. It's in one of these boxes... somewhere.

I am so impressed by all your vitality and mobility with your 15 pound bowling ball! Yay for baby toys! It is freezing here too. We've received more snow in the last 2 weeks than we have received all winter! So, I am with you on wanting spring to hurry up and get here!
I am excited to see pictures soon!
