During the winter time, I may have complained just a touch about the weather and how cold it was and how I hated it here, etc. But the weather is totally redeeming itself now. I've really got zero complaints now. It's been perfect for a while now. Even on the days that the locals refer to as "hot" I still think it feels great. (On a side note, I've had a few people comment that I must be miserable with the heat and being 9 mos pregnant. I always just laugh at them and tell them they have no idea the kind of heat I lived through during Eva's pregnancy.)
Now back to my story. With the weather being so great, we've been able to enjoy our deck a lot. Eva loves being out there as much as Ryan and I do. One evening, Ryan started a fire in our chimenea. (How do you spell that???) Eva started using the extra pieces of pinion wood to build a castle for her little Cinderella and Belle toys. She was so completely engaged in that activity, that Ryan and I were able to have a completely uninterrupted conversation! Anyone with a toddler knows how impossible this task is. :)
Here she is just building away. She would build, then take down and rearrange. Isn't that the sign of a true artist? They never feel the project is completely done and perfect?

haley, you cracked me up with your 'chimenea' and 'how do you spell that' question. i can just see your mom doing her little 'i can't believe this' chuckle and shaking her head, then saying "girl, you don't know how to spell that?" i know you did that mrs. linda!
isn't is so funny how there are certain words that we just never have learned how to spell or they just momentarily completely escape us or something?
anyway, just had to comment on it...mainly about your mom. and...
chimney. i think. ;)
No, not "chimney"... I'm talking about the spanish word for the outside fire pit thing. I really don't know how to spell it. And I bet my mom doesn't either... because she knows about zero spanish words. :) Now I'm laughing because you think I'm a complete moron! haha!
Michawn, you just cracked ME up! Haley was talking about the chimenea--not the chimney. ;) They are 2 different things. And actually, I am not sure how to spell chimenea--but that is the way I would guess at spelling it. I think it is Spanish and I have never had any Spanish. The chimenea is the "portable" fireplace/chimney that you set on your patio and burn small wood in.
I hope you read this, Michawn. Do let me know. I'm also cracking up that you have me pegged so well. How do you know me that well???Seriously. I never taught you in school or anything like that. Have my kids been talking about me behind my back??? What did they say???!!! ;o)

Before I got my comment posted, Haley posted hers. That is the reason for the double explanation! Just clarifying things. And I am still laughing. We love you, Michawn.

oh my gosh!!!!!!! HILARIOUS!! i'm sitting here trying to be quiet since joel is sleeping, but i'm shaking the bed with my laughter.
oh my gosh, there are so many funny things about this. first of all, i was like, why is eva building her thingy outside...wouldn't their fireplace with the chimney be inside?
secondly, it did shock the poo out of me that you didn't know how to spell chimney...but, you know, words escape us sometimes. still though...i was like, really?
thirdly, i have NEVER HEARD THAT WORD IN MY LIFE!!!!! and that is what cracks me up the most.
fourthly, now that i re-read it, why would you start a fire in a chimney?!?!?!? ok, it's official...i woke up joel. i can't stop the shaking. ;) ha ha ha.
and fifthly, and i think lastly, mrs. linda, i just know. i don't know how exactly, but i can just see you doing things. ;)
one more thing...why can't we just call it an outside fireplace for heaven's sake? or, a portable fireplace since it really doesn't exactly resemble a fireplace? and why does that word have to so closely resemble the english word for the thing santa goes down? geesh.
ok, my belly is hurting now. there is my ab exercise for the day. this has been fun. thanks for the laughs...unbelievable!
Michawn, you're a hoot!!!!!! Love it!
Praying for your back.
Mrs. Linda
