It's about time!

I am grateful that at 3 1/2 years old, Eli is finally showing some interest in potty training.

Lesson one in potty training a strong-willed child: He absolutely will not go unless and until he wants to!

Last night before bed, I noticed that Eli's diaper was dry.  And as I always do when I notice that, I asked if he wanted to go potty.  And for the first time ever, he said YES! And he hopped down, went to the bathroom, got right up on the potty and tinkled like it was the most natural and normal thing he does.  I squealed and jumped up and down and clapped and squealed some more!  It was so funny!

Eli was awfully proud of himself, which was so cute to watch.  His smile could not have been bigger and he kept hugging and kissing me.  I kept telling him over and over, "I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!". To which he would say back to me, "I so proud ob you!"

I do love that boy with everything in me.  He can sure push my buttons, but then he can grin at me and tell me he's proud of me, I turn to mush.

Today, he only actually went once in the potty, but that is still HUGE progress!  I'm just glad that he is now saying yes when I ask him to sit on the potty instead of saying no.

He still has no desire to wear underwear, so we'll see how that plays out in the days to come, but there is light at the end of our diapering tunnel!

Eli, I'm so proud of you!!!

Oh girlie I feel your pain with the strong willed child. I finally had to do the three day potty training thing with Micah. Not fun at all! But after many messes and tears(from me) it finally worked. I hope he has continued success:)
