Pickles and Ice Cream

It is always amusing to see the difference in a regular grocery trip and a "pregnant" grocery trip. Ryan was pretty amused at the things that landed in our cart today while doing our shopping.  A few posts ago I mentioned that my "cravings" were really more of just things that didn't make me vomit and less of true cravings.

I lied.

Last night I told Ryan that I wanted a sandwich... on white bread... with ham and cheese.  (Side note:  I ALWAYS eat whole grain bread.  Except when I was pregnant with Eva, one weekend I wanted sandwiches on white bread.  So weird!  Another side note:  even though I'm still nauseated night and day, I'm way hungrier than I remember being with Eva.  Which only fuels my theory/fear that I'm having twins!)  So I had wanted a white bread sandwich before bed last night, but we didn't have ANY food in our house... hence the grocery trip today.

At 3:30 this morning I awoke.  Hungry.  And thinking about that sandwich on white bread.  How crazy am I?!?  Wait, don't answer that.

So white bread was random item number one in my cart today.  It's random friends in the cart were: gatorade; Jell-O; a block of parmesan cheese; Ruffles potato chips; Ranch flavored pretzels (totally grossed Ryan out on that one!); and brussel spouts (I ate brussel sprouts religiously with Eva)!  The next 6 weeks are going to be hilarious!  :)

I actually didn't buy pickles or ice cream, but I think the other things in the cart more than confirm my crazy pregnancy state.  Maybe not to the untrained eye... but definitely to those that know me well.

For those that think they don't like brussel sprouts, try my recipe (passed down from my Uncle Bruce):
Frozen brussel sprouts
Enough water to cover the bottom of your pot
1-2 T. of butter
garlic powder to taste
salt to taste
-Simmer that for about 20 minutes or until the brussel sprouts are tender.
It'll rock your socks off!

FYI: I still have not had my sandwich.  Tomorrow's my day!

So funny! I cracked up while reading about the white bread's friends. Ha! Do you guys have twins in the family? I'm a twin, and that is a fear of mine too!:)

This summer, we went to a restaurant where Kay actually got fried pickles and ice cream at the same time. We said that we could tell she was pregnant!
