Pinkalicious

For Christmas, we bought Eva the book Pinkalicious.  She loved it from the first time we read it and had it memorized within a week.  The book is about a little girl who makes pink cupcakes with her mommy, but eats too many and wakes up the next morning and she's pink.  The little girl loves being pink so when the doctor tells her she has to eat nothing but green vegetables in order to return to her normal color, the little girl refuses and eats more pink cupcakes.  She wakes up the next morning and is red.  She doesn't want to be red so she holds her nose and eats all the green vegetables in the refrigerator.  It's a wonderful book for little girls.

Well, since we are a one car family right now, we aren't having very many daytime outings.  That means mommy has to come up with lots of projects to keep the two year old entertained.  Because a bored two year old equals a bad two year old.  :)  And I hate putting her in timeout 80 times a day as much as she hates being there.  I could see that this was going to be one of those days, if I didn't come up with something good.

Therefore, at about 9:30 this morning I told Eva that we should make pink cupcakes.  She was so happy!  She helped me put the cupcake liners in the pan and counted them all as she put them in.  She also was dying to put the eggs in the batter.  I don't know what her fascination has been with the eggs, but the last time I made something she did the same thing.  Needless to say, she didn't get to do the eggs, but she helped stir and watch with much anticipation as the batter turned from white to pink.  She was so excited.   The whole time I was mixing and baking, she kept quoting the book to me.

We baked the cupcakes and then I made pink frosting while she was eating lunch.  I think she managed to eat a banana for lunch, which normally would not equal lunch and therefore no cupcake, but I just couldn't do that to the kid.  So I gave her a cupcake after her "lunch" and she basically ate the top off of it... eating only the amount of cake that actually had icing on it.  It was so cute.  She kept saying, "I turning pink!"  the whole time she was eating it.  I think she was mildly disappointed that she was still her normal color.

I wonder if I'll still be making all pink cupcakes after this baby comes along.  If this is a boy, he will not likely have the same appreciation for pink that Eva does.  We'll see!  I'm dying to know!!

Either way, it turned out to be a fun day with my girl.

McKenna LOVES that book as well! Her teacher at her preschool has it in her classroom & she wanted it for Christmas too! So at our preschool's Scholastic book fair, I statched it up & we read it almost every day! I'll have to steal the idea of making the cupcakes w/ her with the pink icing! She'd love that!

What a fun mommy!! I know you are probably dying for the Kansas City winter to be over so you can take your cutie outside. From one hot weather lover to another, I'll be praying for you in that area, plus for the house in Texas to sale. God has all the details worked out. :)

Guess I'm going to have to pick up this book. All the other books I own are about trucks and trains and monsters. Thanks for the suggestion.
