Excuse me, but that is NOT my name!

There is a certain cute little seven-year-old living in this house who has suddenly decided she's a grown-up.

I first noticed it early last week, when getting our attention she said, "Dad" or "Mom" dropping the affectionate "y" on the end.

This weekend there seemed to be a full shift away from mommy and daddy. To which I said, "Uh, excuse me but my name is mommy!"

Listen, I know it's bound to happen. Most grown-ups or even teenagers don't refer to their parents as mommy and daddy. But I was ill-prepared and I'm going to need at least one more year of being mommy. Please?! Can't I just have one more year to savor the affectionate sound of "mommy" before a pre-teen takes up residence in my basement?

*sigh*

So little girl, I'm going to need you to stop it already with all the growing up you're trying to do. Just stay little if it's all the same to you. Your MOMMY! would be oh so appreciative.
