Two and a half weeks

Has it only been two weeks since my baby boy was born?  Feels like longer, but that's the joy of sleep deprivation!  Although, I really can't complain.  The kid definitely takes after his mama and he enjoys the sleep.  Many times in my life, I've been faced with the question "Do I sleep or do I eat?"  About 95% of the time the answer is SLEEP!  This is Eli's answer, too.  So far, he wakes up about the same number of times that Eva still wakes up.  :)  I usually feed him around 10-11 pm and we go to bed and then he wakes up around 2-4 am, eats just enough to last him the rest of the night and then wakes up again around 6:30-7:30 am.  All in all, not bad for being just 2 weeks old.

We took him to the doctor today for his check-up and he is now weighing in at... (drum roll please)... 10 lbs 4 oz.!!!  My body apparently makes heavy cream instead of just regular ole' milk.  :)

(Insert picture here of a very cute baby.  I haven't uploaded any pictures to the computer in over a week.  I'll do that tonight and add some later.)

In other news,  Eva (you know, the three year old who also wakes up at least one time every night) is doing well.  She loves her little brother and HATES when he cries.  She wants all activity stopped and for me to pick him up if he starts crying.  In the meantime, she will close the door and cover her ears to drown out the noise.  It's hysterical!   She loves giving him kisses and tells us about a thousand times a day how "cutie" he is.  It's really precious.

Eli is not a big fan of being in his car seat, so he seems to cry a good bit when we're driving.  So Eva tells us over and over, "Mommy, Eli's crying.  He needs his paci."  All while she's covering her ears of course.

Eva also continues to make us laugh with the things she says.  Today we met Ryan for lunch after our visit with the pediatrician.  (We had a coupon for a free pizza!)  In this restaurant they have tons of figurines on a shelf that goes around the whole restaurant.  Eva was asking who all the "people" were.  It's quite the random assortment.  There was batman, the Pillsbury dough boy, Elmo, Mickey Mouse, and even Marilyn Monroe in her classic pose.  After seeing Marilyn Monroe, Eva looked at her daddy and said, "She doesn't love Jesus."  Ryan asked her why and she stated, "Because she has her leg out like this."  Then demonstrated.  We laughed so hard!

Then later in our meal, Ryan and I were discussing music... particularly the great 70's music that was playing.  A song came on... it may have been Stevie Wonder, can't remember for sure... and Eva said, "This sounds like a real page turner."  We looked at her and verified that is what she said and then died laughing again.  I have no idea where she has heard that phrase before or why she attached it to music rather than books, but she's three so we went with it.

Anyway, our new normal is turning out to be not nearly as scary as I'd imagined it could be.  Yesterday, as I was holding both my babies on my lap at one time, I was so overwhelmed by how in love with both of them I am.  I could have stayed like that forever!

Your Eva is too funny. And I found the transition much easier than I expected. Praise the Lord for His grace in that! Can't wait to see more pictures of Eli.

Oh, and I totally produce cream, not milk as well. ;)
