Another week in review

This "Week in review" theme I have going is kinda nice. I'm enjoying sitting here this morning with my cup of coffee, thinking about our big week while the wee ones watch some cartoons. Did you know that the "Super Why Super Readers" can save the day?! Apparently they can. I'll let you know for sure in about 15 minutes, though.

Okay, so we have kinda had a big week. Back in the Fall, Ryan and I tossed around the idea of buying a house here, but held extremely loosely to the idea. Then in December, reality hit me and I realized that if we were going to move we would have to give our landlord 2 months notice, so we would need to know something by the end of January. We started praying more seriously about whether or not this was what God wanted us to do, and we began looking at houses online. A couple of weeks ago we decided we would go look at houses in person with a realtor because it really is hard to know what things actually look like from pictures. Long story short, we only found one house in our price range that we liked. I still wasn't 100% sure about buying a house. We kept praying for wisdom. Ryan figured out what our monthly payments would be for varying loan amounts and we figured out what would be the most we could offer on the house without increasing our monthly payments. We were starting to get more settled with the idea of being homeowners again. Then a couple of things happened: 1. We got a letter in the mail from our landlord that he was going to raise our rent (which really made us mad b/c we've been good tenants, but whatever). 2. Then I realized that most of my hesitation in buying a house is because I don't want to go through what we went through again when it's time to sell again. But I realized that though this fear does have some validity, it's mostly silly. I have no way of knowing how long the Lord wants us to stay in Blue Springs, MO. It could be 3 more years or it could be forever. We have no desire to move. We really like it here.

So all that to say, after looking at several houses, we made an offer on a house on Monday and, after brief negotiation, came to a deal with the homeowners! We're really excited about it. It's a small, but very cute house with a GREAT backyard. One of the main things I'd been praying for was a great backyard. This family has kids who are upper elementary school age already. They have a great play set that is staying. We feel super blessed! So it looks like we'll be closing on and moving into our house in March.

Let's see what else has happened this week... Well, we realized that we somehow lost Isaac's social security card. So that was great news. Still praying it shows up and didn't get accidentally thrown away. I've been so frustrated about it all week. Feel free to pray with us that we find it.

Isaac will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. Crazy! He is finally sleeping pretty well, once he gets to sleep. I'm trying to figure out how he likes to be put to sleep. Right now it's taking a while for him to actually fall asleep, but he is typically just waking up one time at night...sometimes two, which is really nice. I think we are actually going to survive this baby too. :)

We got another 8 inches of snow this week. We might get another inch today and more on Sunday. I'm so ready for spring already. I hate being cold.

I guess that's it for the week. I have barely left this house all week. Blah! I need to remedy that this weekend.

You know who else can save the day, apparently? Special Agent Oso. Don't ask me how I know.

Congrats on the new house! Now let's see some pics.
