I love my girl!

I have to write this down right now so I don't forget.

Eva has said some of the funniest things lately that have made me laugh so hard.

1. This week at school they are working on the letter "D". On Tuesday, she came home and told me that she got a piece of candy from her teacher. I asked her why she got a piece of candy and she said, "Because I said a very good D word."
"What D word did you say?"
"Damaged."
Well, okay. I told Ryan the story when he got home. Assuming she had heard the word and was just repeating it, he asked her what the word "damaged" means. She proceeded to give him a better explanation that I probably could have.
Smart little booger!

2. Thursday, we were in the bathroom fixing her hair and I would give ANYTHING to remember the context of our conversation, but she said, "Amen to that!"
I could not stop laughing.

3. Friday morning we were talking about who knows what, and she mentioned that she wanted a sister. I told her that there was nothing I could do about it, but reminded her how much we love her two brothers. She said, "Mommy, I'm going to pray and ask God to give me a sister." I laughed and said that would be fine.

She thought for a minute before saying, "I think I'll pray right now and ask God for a sister."
She bows her head, clasps her hands, and closes her eyes. Then opens her eyes and looks at me. "Mommy, close your eyes."

I really didn't want to be a part of that. I'm kinda feeling like 3 is enough for me. But I can't tell her that. So I obediently bow my head, laughing the entire time.

She wants to know why I'm laughing.

4. Tonight (I don't know why, but I can't get the italics to turn off.)... anyway, tonight Ryan was reading to her from the "Five Minute Devotions for Chrildren" book. It is such a great book for kids! It has a story, a bible verse, and asks lots of good questions. Tonight the story they read, led to her saying that there were some things that she didn't understand about Jesus dying on the cross for us. She eventually said, "I just don't understand how one person dying on the cross can save someone else."

Wow. Pretty sure I wasn't having those deep thoughts about Christ at such a young age. We cannot wait to see how He will draw her heart to himself in the coming years.

So beautiful.

(Ha! Now the italics turned off. So weird!)

Sweet girl, we love you more than you know! We love your sense of humor and love watching you be the greatest big sister in the world. Your little brothers get more hugs and kisses than they could ever want from you. I can hardly believe that in just four short months you will be five! I can hardly stand it, but you are beyond excited. Don't grow up too fast baby girl. You're only little once.

(That reminds me of another funny story. Just a couple of weeks ago, I told Eva not to grow up too fast and she responded, "How can I grow too fast? I only have a birthday ever year.")

Those are great stories. I really need to get better at writing down funny things that Caed says.

Your story about doing her hair reminded me of something my friend does. She takes a picture of every way that she does her daughter's hair and then puts it in a book so her daughter can point to which one she wants every day. She said it makes life a little easier in the morning.

Also, I became a Christian at 5, so it's pretty exciting that Eva is asking such deep questions about Jesus. She might be heading that way soon! So cool!!
