Hiding Place
Eva has recently begun to try to hide from mommy. It's a very fun game that usually consists of her emptying one of my kitchen cabinets, crawling inside, and saying "bye-bye" as she pulls the door to her. She will then pop her head out and say either "boo" or "hi". It's really funny and it sometimes keeps her entertained while I'm either doing dishes or cooking. Well, today, I was in her bathroom cleaning up and she opened the linen closet and was looking around. I had to go into another room really quickly, so I just left her in the closet (the door was open). About 1 minute later, I hear her saying "Mommy! Mommy!" I assumed that she was just looking for me and couldn't find me. So, I yelled back, "I'm in here Eva. It's okay." Well, she kept yelling and something just didn't seem right. So, I ran to try to find her. She had shut herself into the linen closet and couldn't get out. When I opened the door, she was red faced and on the verge of panic. It was so sad! I didn't realize that she could reach the door handle on her own (she's pretty short, if you haven't noticed.) Apparently she can! Lesson learned. :) Eva has also discovered that rocking can cure all problems in life. So after I opened the closet and rescued her and started telling me she wanted to rock. These days, however, we don't just rock. Rock also includes scratching her back. If I don't start scratching when we start rocking, she looks up at me and says "Back." As in, "come on mom, you know what to do!" It's the greatest.
