In every thing give thanks...

I realize that I'm always complaining about my job. So today, I'm going to be thankful for it. Here's why:

1. I really get to be around an amazing wealth of knowledge in so many different fields. I daily come into contact with a nutritionist, physical therapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, a play therapist, a nurse, and people with great knowledge in areas like autism and Down's syndrome and other disorders that the average person has never heard of. I have consulted probably all of these people at different times regarding different things with Eva. It's truly a gift and I learn something new every day. I LOVE that part of what I do.

2. I love working with (most) of the children. In fact, right now I'm a little sad because one little boy I've been working with for about 7 months is about to move to an adoptive home from foster care. He has made amazing progress since being in this foster home, and I'm just so worried about how he'll adjust to his new home. I have a special soft spot in my heart for kids that have been mistreated or unloved. They break my heart and I enjoy being able to hug on them and love them.

3. I also love being able to share what I know with families. I typically work with uneducated families that need a lot of teaching. I enjoy teaching them things like the importance of putting babies on their tummies and how to teach kids to roll over, crawl, walk, and talk. Last night I saw a little boy take his first step alone after working with him for the last few months. It's very rewarding.

So those are the things that I"m most thankful for regarding my job. (That's not to say that I don't still want to quit, but I'm going with "positive" right now.) :)

You've done amazing job with the knowledge you've gained on your job and with your natural instincts to raise our granddaughter. Always remember - "Haley/Ryan trained babies" are a coveted thing!
