What to do?

I don't know what to do friends. I have two weeks to find childcare for Eva for the remainder of the summer. Obviously, what I would love to do is be able to hand in my two-week notice on Monday, but I have pretty much given up hope on that. What's crazy is that if we could just cut out about $600 dollars a month, then I could. I keep thinking, that this amount of money is peanuts to God. He could easily remedy this situation without batting an eye. Clearly, he must want to teach me something from all of this. I am still learning apparently.

So, here's my question for you, my friends. What do you do to save your family money each month. I am willing to try anything. If I could just save $200-300 a month, then I could get a less stressful job that would allow me to spend more time with Eva.

Show me your creativity people!!!

The following pictures have nothing to do with saving money, but I figure if you see how cute Eva is, maybe you'll be more inspired to help me come up with money saving tips that will allow me to stay home. :)

These pics are from our trip to the zoo for Eva's 2nd birthday.  We went on 1/2 price Wednesday... that saved money... and we brought our own drinks.  We're good!
Eva was waving to the flamingos and saying, "Hi birds!"
She loved the penguins.  They made her laugh.
She wanted to hold daddy's hand.  Isn't that just so sweet!?

About 30 seconds outside of the zoo, I turned around and she was already asleep.  She must have been having good dreams though.  What a sweet little face.  Shouldn't I stay home with her?  :)

Haley,

Here are some ideas.

1) Do you have a new car that you are paying on? If so, you could consider selling it and using the money to buy a used car. That could save you a whole car payment. Or if you have two cars you are making payments on you could sell one of them . . .

2) Are you paying on school loans?? A school loan can be deferred with no penalty if you re-enroll in an accredited school. You would have to pay for a class, but it might could cut out a monthly payment for a while.

3) Get rid of cable/satellite/dish . . . it hurts, but it's a great way to save.

4) If you have cell phones and a housephone, ditch the housephone service. You can make your cell phone be your only phone.

5) Sell stuff. Craig's List is a great place to start. I sold a stroller and some fishing stuff. I made over a 100$ in less than a week. It was stuff we hadn't used in years . . . Everybody has stuff like that.

That's about all I have for now. I'm going to pray for you and your family just now. That you'll have wisdom and peace. God's in control. Just stay close to him. Matthew 5:33 is a good one to remember.

you could come live over here! everything's super cheap! just kidding.:) wish i had some creative thoughts, but having not been in the states for a while, i haven't really had to think along those lines for a while. I know that when we were in the states only having a cell phone and not paying for cable really helped us a lot. if you still want a house phone, you might look into a packet 8 phone. it uses your internet connection, and is cheaper (i think) than a regular phone and includes long distance as well. that's what we use over here, and it works great even with our not so reliable internet connection. i will definitely be praying for you guys.

To save on food when eating out, here's a site you can use to find deals from Entertainment.com, Restaurant.com and Passport Unlimited. Just type in a search term (e.g. Sushi) and a location (e.g. Seattle) and check out the results. The places with green icons have deals.
