Some of you know that I have been sleeping on an air mattress in our living room because Ryan has been sick and I've been trying not to get his germs. Ryan volunteered to sleep on the air mattress, but I didn't want his excessive coughing to keep Eva awake. (Our living room is sandwiched between each bedroom with barely enough room for our air mattress.)
Night 1: Eva woke up at 2 am and realized that mommy is on the super-fun air mattress in the living room! I put her back to sleep and then she woke up at 6 am. The super-fun-air-mattress was apparently calling her name because she was ready to jump and play and wanted me to jump and play with her. Oh joy!
Night 2: Eva slept all night, but Ryan woke me up briefly when he came into the kitchen to get a drink at 3 am. Then Eva woke up at 5:45. She just seems to have a way of knowing that someone is in the living room and is ready to play. I did convince her to go back to sleep for a little while, but not until almost 7:00.
Night 3: I had a hard time going to sleep last night for some reason. You would think with the previous two nights that I would have fallen asleep in 2 seconds flat. I guess I had a lot on my mind, though. I don't know why... it's not like we have anything going on in our lives right now. (Note the sarcasm dripping from the previous sentence.) So I finally fell asleep around midnight, Eva woke up around 3:30ish. She was "thirsty". I put her back to bed and laid back down. Couldn't fall back asleep quickly because there was lots of coughing coming from Ryan's room... not his fault at all, I felt really bad for him... just stating the facts, here. Sometime in the next hour or so, Eva got up again only I didn't hear her. I just know that sometime around 5 am, she was in the bed with me and was petting my head. I kept telling her that it was still night-night time and she needed to close her eyes and go to sleep. (I did not have the energy to go put her back in her bed.) She finally settled down and we both went back to sleep. Then around 5:45 I started to hear one of Eva's toys talking. That toy has a mind of its own, not even kidding! It's happened before, where it was sitting on top of the coffee table and started talking. The little talking camera has been in a basket untouched for at least 3 days and decided to start talking. It goes through a round of phrases and then stops. Except last night, it kept repeating. Just when I would think it was done, it would start again. I finally got off the mattress, found the right basket, dug around and found the camera and then had to find a place for it, where I couldn't hear it. (All of this activity also woke Eva up and she got out of the bed, too.) I almost put the camera in the trash can, but the kitchen is so close that I was afraid we'd still be able to hear it, so I took it to the laundry room. So then I had to convince Eva, yet again, that it was in fact still night time and she needed to go back to sleep. But she was thirsty! I gave her some juice and we laid back down. She went back to sleep and I went back to sleep, until Ryan got up to get read for work. Then I was just able to dose a little for the next hour.
So the one part that almost made me cry and ask God WHY?? was the part with the talking camera. I just kept laying there thinking, Seriously??? What is the purpose behind this??? I just don't get it! I didn't hear an answer, and I'm afraid I still don't have an answer to that question. What I do know is that today I disinfect my bedroom because Ryan is on the mend and I'm sleeping in my bed tonight!
Here's to a good night's sleep.
I would also like to quickly apologize to my parents and my cousin Emilie and to anyone else who has slept on that air mattress, because good gravy, it is NOT comfortable. I mean, I realize that part of that is that I'm 5 months pregnant, but all my limbs kept falling asleep and my hips were hitting the floor by morning time.

You poor thing!! Hang in there! We had an Elmo toy with a mind of it's own...it mysteriously found its way into a goodwill bag recently. :)
Also, we let Makayla keep a sippy cup of water in her bed at night for all those "thirsty" times. I sure hope you can get some good sleep soon, my friend!

Oh Haley....I feel for you!! One night of that would be enough for me, but 4!! WOW! Poor thing! I'm glad Ryan is feeling better for! :)
I don't normally promote profanity, especially around young children, but oh my....the talking camera might have pushed me over the edge. Here's hoping you get a good nights sleep tonight!
