Snow Day

The previous snows we have had this winter were when I was still sick, so we never got to have any fun in the snow.  Today was our day!  We got about 5-6 inches of snow this morning and it was beautiful.  Apparently, though, this winter has been one of the warmest and driest that Kansas City has ever had.  I overheard one teenage girl complaining today about how it snowing on Saturday and that meant they didn't get a day off of school.

We decided to make it a fun day for Eva.  So we put the car in 4-wheel drive and headed to the store to get a sled.  Since I'm a little bit pregnant, I was the dedicated picture taker in order to chronicle Eva's first sled ride.

Here goes the "snow princess" (that's how she referred to herself) and her Prince.

This is me realizing that it was crazy cold outside.  The wind  had picked up considerably by the time we went out to play.

Eva doesn't weigh very much, so the sled kept tipping over.  She was covered in snow within minutes, which meant she was wet and cold.

In an unrelated story, the other day Ryan was able to come home from work a little early and decided to replace my burned out tail light.  Eva was not at all content to watch him from our apartment window, but Ryan couldn't keep a good eye on her while he was fixing the light.  We finally came to the conclusion that Eva could hang out with him outside if she sat in the trunk of the car!  She loved the idea!  I couldn't resist taking a picture because they just looked so cute.
You might be a redneck if...

Now I'm ready for spring!

Ohhhhhhh, my heart is just melting. Those pictures are just so cute. I love my girl!!! Can't wait to see you both. Ryan, I truly wish you could come--but since that is not possible, thanks for letting us borrow your girls for a week. Just 19 more days and I get to see the "snow princess."

Love you all
Mom
